A young entrepreneur who moved from Syria to Antigonish, N.S., less than two years ago with his family has just been appointed to the Invest Nova Scotia board of directors.
Tareq Hadhad will serve on the Invest Nova Scotia Board for a four- year term.
Hadhad and his family opened Peace by Chocolate after arriving in Nova Scotia in December 2015.
Hadhad’s father, Assam, ran a chocolate factory in Damascus before the family fled for Canada.
Invest Nova Scotia was established in 2014. It acts as an independent decision-making board for granting economic incentives.
“Tareq will make an excellent addition to the Invest Nova Scotia Board,” said Geoff MacLellan, Minister of Business.
“Tareq’s enterpreneurial journey and experience building the Peace by Chocolate brand will be invaluable as Invest Nova Scotia continues to fund projects that build a stronger economy and create more jobs for young Nova Scotians.”
