Honoured To Have Been A Panelist On CBC's Canada Reads
I was honoured to join as a panelist on Canada Reads this year, and now it is over. 4 straight days of debating with a fabulous group of Canadians who believe in literature to connect us and bring us together. I was so thrilled to champion the book "What Strange Paradise" by Omar El Akkad and I am really thankful for CBC for giving me this platform to connect my own story to this book and find myself in it. As I said on the show, this book with vivid scenes and dazzling structure vibrates between parable and particular, and it tells us what kind of people we are: The fuel or the engine.
Every day is a new opportunity for Canadians to realize that we are lucky enough to not having to leave our homes in a split moment, or having to face that difficult choice of surrendering or living, of making an extraordinary tale of our resiliency if we could.
This was absolutely a magical once in a lifetime experience for me. Congratulations to everyone on the team and to my fellow co-panelists for such an incredible season. Five Little Indians is a much needed book that every Canadian must read, so pleased it won this year.
For now - Keep on reading, Canada.
